Session: Stay Fit This Fall

Classes November 5th-28th
Monday & Wednesday

Let’s get out and enjoy this fall with movement. This session will focus on all the components of fitness; cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, balance, and agility. We will explore different forms of exercises from class to class to keep it interesting for the mind and body. All levels welcomed.

Wednesday, November 7th, 2018 – Corn Mill Shoals Parking Lot ( DuPont State Forest) -1300 Staton Rd Cedar Mountain, NC  28718

Monday – Blue Ridge Community College –

Address: 45 Oak Park Dr Brevard NC 28712
We’ll meet in the top parking lot at Blue Ridge Community College where there is a pavilion in case of rain.

Wednesday – High Falls Parking Area –

From Crab Creek Road (Brevard/Hendersonville)
Turn south 4. 0 miles on DuPont Road that turns into Staton Road. Go past the Hooker Falls Access to High Falls Access Area of the left.
From Cedar Mountain (US-276)
Turn south 4. 0 miles on DuPont Road that turns into Staton Road. Go past the Hooker Falls Access to High Falls Access Area of the left. Turn north 2.5 miles on Cascade Lake Road and a right on Staton Road at the DuPont State Recreational Forest sign. Follow Staton Road 1.3 miles to the High Falls Access Area on the right.

Enter Pisgah Forest 276 N for 5 miles take a left onto 475 and Fish Hatchery is about 2 miles down on the left.

It’s been shown pretty clearly that as daylight decreass, starting in fall, people will have more feelings of deprssion and anxiety. If there are feelings of depression and anxiety they will report stress.” Dr. Elinre McCance-Katz Psychiatrist and chief Medical officer at HHS.

7 Ways To Reduce Stress

1. Exercise – At least 10 mins per day

2. Practice Deep Breathing –  Take 2-5 mins per day

3. Eat Stress Reducing Foods – Almonds, Oatmeal, Turkey, Greens, Oranges, Blueberries, Avocado, Salmon

4. Laugh – Look up jokes on the internet or just pretend to laugh. Laughter enhances your intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates your heart, lungs and muscles, and increases the endorphins that are released by your brain.

5. Be Grateful – Make a list of things you are grateful for.

6. Meditate – Take a few minutes to think of positive and healing thoughts.

7. Light a Candle or Diffuse Essential Oil – Scents that work well to help fight stress: Lavender, Rose, Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Orange Blossom

🧘🏻‍♀️Monday – Hike to the top of Big Rock and enjoy the view while gaining flexibility, balance, and strength.

🏋🏻‍♀️Wednesday – We’ll meet in the top parking lot at Blue Ridge Community College where there is a pavilion in case of rain.If the weather is fair we will walk the bike path while completing the circuit training. 🌧If rain we will do the circuit training under the pavilion.😀

🏃🏼‍♀️Thursday – Enjoy a cardio mix to music 🎶while incorporating core movements.

Turn south 5.3 miles on DuPont Road that turns into Staton Road. Go past the Hooker Falls and High Falls Access Areas to a left at the end of Staton Road on Cascade Lakes Road. The Corn Mills Shoals Access Area is 0.8 miles on the right.

From Cedar Mountain (US-276)

Turn north on Cascade Lake Road 1.7 miles to the Corn Mill Shoals Access Area on the left.
